Pros: Small footprint. Fast Start-up time (more later). Built-in Wi-Fi. Cheap.
Cons: remote buttons are not logically defined, easy to press other buttons by mistake. No backlit remote control! No eject button! Load vs. confusing game time.

Setup was a breeze. I was on my home network in minutes. WiFi makes the difference in the world and is controlling some things BD-Live in the day. Network upgrades will be a breeze. Advertising 6 seconds startup time is right, but it starts quickly, until you leave the device allows a quick start-ups, as it does during the initial installation. This makes it less energy efficient, just like "instant on" feature on television. Be aware that the early start means only

| Review by Rod E. Reichardt (Austin, TX) 2010-07-28 Pros: Beautiful Blu-Ray with quick start. Easy to set up. WiFi works great. Lots of internet media options. Netflix streams in HD. The menus are simple and easy to navigate. Cons: Seems a little touchy about the router you use. Had I not had to chase an X-Box live issue I may not have solved a Netflix issue so quickly. Sum... | Review by R. Dangel (needham, ma) 2010-07-27 If you are buying this device to do anything OTHER than play Bluray, look elsewhere. Sony claims to be able to play multiple formats (mkv most interestingly). I bought this device after learning it had DLNA support. To date, even after applying several firmware updates, DLNA does not work AT ALL. I can see my various DLNA media servers, an... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Andrew Martin (Pittsburgh, PA United States) 2010-07-10 The player arrived and I set it up according to the manual's instructions. It worked fine for a few months. I never moved the player or did anything other than insert and remove discs. It suddenly stopped working. It turns on but reads "system error." I have never had something breakdown like this (less than a year). I paid a premium price be... Read more reviews | ||
